Who I Supervise Best

If you’re looking for clinical supervision and strictly wish to work in private practice, you have plenty of options.

The clinicians who get the most out of working with me are usually somewhere else entirely:

  • Mobile crisis. You are making clinical decisions in a parking lot at 2am with no chart in front of you.

  • Clinical case management. Your job description says coordination, but the work is clinical, and nobody is helping you name it that way.

  • Community and outreach settings. Shelters, halfway houses, group homes, street work. The clinical frame is not handed to you, you have to build it.

  • Inpatient and acute care. High volume, high acuity, short episodes of care.

If your work does not look like a fifty minute hour in a quiet office, I understand your job, because I have done it. That is the whole reason to pick me over a name in a directory.

I Work With What You Bring Me

Every supervisor’s directory listing says roughly the same thing. Here is what actually happens in my sessions.

I Work With What You Bring Me

I do not have a curriculum I run everyone through. I start with where you actually are.

If you are struggling to formulate a diagnosis, I will have you do your research and apply those skills afterward.

If you are strong clinically but freezing on documentation, we work on documentation. If you are competent and terrified, we work on the terror. I adapt to the circumstances you are in rather than the ones a textbook assumed.

Finding the Clinical in Everyday Work

This is what I'm best at, and it's what my supervisees tell me they couldn't find anywhere else.

Case management and community-based work are full of moments that look like logistics but carry real clinical weight: a missed appointment, a phone call about a bus pass, a conversation in a hallway. Learning to recognize what's happening in those moments, and to respond as a clinician, is what separates surviving a caseload from actually practicing.

In supervision, I'll help you see that clinical content, intervene with intention, and document your work accurately. I'll also help you understand which of your experiences count toward licensure under Florida's requirements, and how to build the direct clinical hours you need alongside your case management responsibilities.

Teaching and mentoring is the work I most want to be remembered for. Helping raise the next generation of clinicians is my legacy, and I genuinely love it.

Supervision is provided in accordance with Chapter 491, F.S., and Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling rules. Registered interns are responsible for ensuring their experience meets board requirements.

What I Expect From You

Supervision is a serious amount of responsibility to take on for another clinician, and I take it seriously. So there are a few things I am firm about.

You do your own work. I will match your effort and I will not exceed it. If you show up prepared, we will go far. If you are looking for someone to sign hours, I am not your supervisor.

We talk about ethics, and we keep talking about ethics. I will ask you hard questions about your judgment and your boundaries. Not because I assume the worst, but because this profession has real ethical failures in it and I am not willing to sign off on someone I have not pressure tested. I want clinicians who can think on their feet, stay authentic, and know exactly where their lines are.

You carry your own liability insurance. This is not negotiable. You will need it in place before we begin.

You sign a supervision contract. I will provide it. It protects both of us and it makes the expectations explicit from day one.

Supervision Options and Rates

I publish my rates because you are early in your career and deserve to know what something costs before you make a phone call.

All formats take place over video anywhere in Florida, or in person if you are in South Florida. All require a signed contract and current liability insurance.

One on One Supervision

$80 per session. Sliding scale available if you need it. Ask me.

Individual supervision is the right starting point if you are newly registered, if your caseload is complex, or if you want focused time on your own development rather than a group’s.

Group Supervision

$50 per session. No sliding scale on group rates.

I will be straight with you: group is my favorite format, and I think most supervisees get more out of it than they expect. You hear how other clinicians reason through cases that are nothing like yours, and that widens you faster than anything I could teach directly.

Most people avoid it because talking in front of colleagues feels exposing. That is a normal reaction and it usually fades within two or three sessions. If you have been on the fence about group, say so and we will talk about it.

Licensure Exam Prep

Contact for pricing.

Separate from clinical supervision hours. Available individually, or as a group if you have colleagues who want to prepare together. If you are approaching your exam and want structured support, reach out and we will figure out the right format.

Where I Have Done the Work

Verify My Qualified Supervisor Status

You should check this. Any intern should check this about any supervisor, and a supervisor who makes it hard is telling you something.

Verify through the Florida Department of Health license lookup here

My licensure record will show my license number, the Qualified Supervisor designation, and which intern types I am approved to supervise. In my case that is registered clinical social work interns.

How Clinical Supervision Works in Florida

The Board’s own page is the authority here, and it is written in statute language. Here is the plain version.

Supervision Hours and Requirements

Registered interns in Florida complete a defined period of supervised post-master’s experience before they can sit for licensure, with minimum hour requirements for both total experience and supervision contact.

Full requirements are on the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling website here.

Can Supervision Be Done Over Video?

Yes. Under the Board’s rules, a qualified supervisor may use face-to-face electronic methods to conduct supervisory sessions for internship hours, where the supervisor judges through professional judgment that doing so is not detrimental to the intern’s patients.

There is a separate rule for interns providing therapy by electronic means, which requires a written telehealth protocol and safety plan agreed with your current qualified supervisor, and requires that your supervisor be readily available during the session. If you are doing telehealth with clients, we will put that protocol in place together.

This is why I can supervise you whether you are in Miami or Pensacola.

Your Supervision Contract and Liability Insurance

The contract sets out what we are each responsible for, how often we meet, how hours are documented, and what happens if either of us needs to end the arrangement. I provide it and we go through it together before we start.

Liability insurance protects you while you are practicing under supervision, and it protects me as the person accountable for your clinical work. Both need to be in place before your first session.

Start Supervision With Me

The difficult client. The decision you keep replaying. The situation where the textbook answer did not quite fit what was happening in front of you.

That is what supervision is for. We will slow it down, look at what happened, and help you build the judgment to handle the next one with more confidence.

I respond personally, usually the same day or within 24 business hours.

Thank you for your message!
